Kristine froseth Born in New Jersey and of Norwegian descent, the 20-year-old model hasn’t let her glamorous career, including campaigns for Prada and Burberry, diminish her love for fiskegrateng – a typical Scandinavian dish of cod mac ’n’ cheese. It was the rich and diverse history of Jodhpur that served as the creative director Claire Choisne’s starting point for Boucheron’s latest high-jewellery pieces. The designer looked to the Mehrangarh Fort, built around 1460 and home to several palaces, to create her vision. ‘I was fascinated by everything from India’s animals and nature to the complex carvings of the Umaid Bhawan Palace,’ she says. ‘I wanted to capture a contemporary vision of India with this collection.’ An artistic style of royal painting flourished in Jodhpur between the 17th and 19th centuries, and its shapes and lines inspired the intricate details of the Bleu de Jodhpur necklace; while the use of sapphires was influenced by the iconic blue houses of the Old Town.
