WHEN WE WERE preparing for this September issue (back in August of course), it felt like the calm before the storm. In my last note, I mentioned how the tech industry seemed to be getting back into gear. And then it descended. Mobile brands dominated the scene, with big players like Samsung launching so many products they had to split their usual Unpacked announcements into separate days, but we’ve had updates from just about everyone from graphics cards to vacuum cleaners. Of course, it’s easy to forget that September is traditionally when the annual IFA consumer electronics convention is held in Berlin, and herein lies one of the biggest problems with digital, or virtual launch events.
