Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar yesterday said he will campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta ahead of October 26 presidential election. He said he lost trust in opposition leaders when they hounded the former IEBC commissioners out of office over “fabricated claims”. “We cannot have a situation where NASA leader Raila Odinga is President and Hassan Joho is Mombasa Governor. It is a traumatic prospect,” Omar said. He urged Mombasa residents to “wake up from slumber” and realise the port city is being ruined by “incompetent” leadership. The Supreme Court will today give directions on whether IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati can correct errors in the presidential election results. Chebukati filed the case seeking clarification on what he should do in case there are discrepancies in the presidential results forms. Parties were last Friday notified to appear before the top court this morning. Through lawyer Kamau Karori, Chebukati, who is also the national returning officer, wants the court to clarify what he ought to do with the errors, if any, after verifying the presidential statutory forms. The current law bars the IEBC chairman from altering results contained in Forms 34B. The results are final as announced at the constituency level. A decision by Opposition leader Raila Odinga to fly out of the country just days to repeat presidential election has caused panic in Jubilee. Some of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handlers fear that the NASA leader may not return before Election Day, October 26. It is unclear how long Raila will be out of the country, which countries he is scheduled to visit and the reasons for his visits. His spokesman Dennis Onyango confirmed yesterday the former Prime Minister will be heading to the United Kingdom. Seventeen days towards the repeat election, Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee are campaigning to death. Meanwhile, Raila Odinga and NASA are firming up serious preconditions for the electoral commission. Uhuru seems to have sensed victory, he has picked up so many losers from NASA and they have joined him.
