COURT Cop killer suspect ‘linked to underworld’ Private investigators say assassinations are common in SA SHANICE NAIDOO A SPECIALIST investigator has alleged Zane Killian, the suspect who appeared in court for the assassination of Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear, has links to the underworld. Killian, 39, is believed to have tracked and traced the top cop via his phone which lead to the assassination outside the Kinnear family home in Bishop Lavis last Friday. It’s believed Killian had been tracking Kinnear’s phone from March until September 18. There have been concerns with the adjudication of land rights disputes owing to the land claims court being without permanent judges. The move takes place against the backdrop of amendments to the Constitution to allow for the expropriation of land without compensation. The Gauteng provincial government wants to ban foreign nationals from operating some businesses in the townships as part of “revitalising the economy” in a number of the most densely populated areas. A proposed new law drafted by the Gauteng economic development department and premier David Makhura’s policy unit will reserve certain economic activities in townships for South African citizens and people with permanent residency status. Jo Futselaar, 15, recently wrote the second round of tests with her paper in braille. The Grade 9 pupil took part in South African Maths Olympiad (Samo) for the first time. “Don’t let others bring you down as society is very judgemental and it is hard for people to cope in that type of situation. Try not to let them get to you,” said Jo. The young pioneer said she wants to educate people that being blind doesn’t limit learning.
