ARTIST TED BRADLEY’S WORK is a fusion of imagination and science. From his studio in Boulder, Bradley crafts porcelain, metal, and LED lights into luminous sculptures. He worked in ceramics throughout his school years, then pursued a mechanical engineering degree and spent a decade in high-tech, including several years at Google. Bradley came to a career turning point and says that he “started looking at what I was really passionate about, and realized that design, sculpture, ceramics, and engineering still called to me.” Now, that diverse background shines through as he crafts innovative, functional light sculptures. DENVER INTERIOR DESIGNER Roxann Lloyd, founder of Red Chair Designs, recently worked with a family to bring their dream home to life. Lloyd uses Design Psychology exercises to assist clients in defining their design ethos, as part of her firm’s “discover, imagine, design” process. The work is the brainchild of psychologist Toby Israel; “It helps them have a better understanding of why they like what they like, and where it comes from,” says Lloyd. Lloyd helped the family decorate and furnish their five-bedroom, five-bath East Washington Park home, utilizing sustainable and artistic elements with jewel tones to create a sophisticated look. Sometimes all it takes is one key element to define an entire room. In this kitchen designed by Becky Lemm, a design consultant with CCD Interiors, the hammered copper stove hood provided inspiration as well as offering the perfect centerpiece for the modern farmhouse space. “Stainless was too sleek, but when I saw that copper hood, suddenly it all made sense,” says Lemm, who added an apron-front sink in the same material and selected accents to reinforce the metallic theme. The glazed backsplash subway tiles, for example, host gray and copper tones, and Lemm describes the color of the Caesar-stone counter and island surfaces as “worn denim blue-gray with shots of copper.” Noting that “copper brings warmth to a space, Lemm’s choice of character-grade European white oak floors continues the effect.…
