What Matters? Style: Floor lamps aren’t meant to light up a whole room—they’re for adding light and visual interest to an empty corner. An artful design is essential, but also test your favorites to see how much light they give off, and any shadows the shades might cast. Size: Treat floor lamps like a piece of furniture: Understand the width of the base and shade to be sure yours won’t become a tripping or head bump hazard.
