gearing up for a busy year of airgunning

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR when we’re just about to see the raft of new kit that’s set to be unveiled as this year’s show season gets into full swing. Most of the big names in the industry have already given the shooting public a sneaky peek of what looks like being some amazing new releases, but as ever it’ll be a few months before this kit makes it into the shops. Thankfully, there is already plenty of cutting edge kit on the racks and on the shelves of gun shops up and down the country and we’re putting some of it to the test in this issue. Mike Morton has been lucky enough to get his hands on the Ataman BP17 Micro Bullpup from Sure Shot Airguns. I have only…

nice and smelly!

It’s been a bit of a long wait, but the production variant of Lee-Enfield (Guns) Ltd’s incarnation of the SMLE is finally here. The SMLE was an absolute icon of the First World War, being affectionately nicknamed the “Smelly” and the CO2 version of the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield is based on the Mk III* model that dates back to late 1915. We took a look at a pre-production rifle in detail back in Airgun Shooter issue 122, and noticed a couple of inaccuracies now fixed on production guns. These include the correct orientation of the oil bottle stowage cover cap and the correct use of slotted, rather than Phillips-head, screws on the butt plate. Well done Lee-Enfield (Guns) – the devil really is in the details! This BB-firer is a good facsimile…

it’s time to evolve

Ridgeline has launched the Evolution Smock, which according to the New Zealand based outdoor clothing company is its most advanced and feature-packed smock design to date. Ridgeline enlisted the help of some of the most active hunters in the UK and Europe to help develop this smock, ensuring it includes a host of hunting-friendly features, the most prominent of which is its length. This smock is super-long, making it great for shrugging off the worst of the weather when you’re mobile, and brilliant for keeping your behind nice and dry when you want to sit down. Apart from being waterproof, it’s breathable too, having a three-layer laminated shell with fully-sealed seams. It’s also lightweight and has adjustable neoprene cuffs as well as a removable and adjustable hood system, underarm zipped vents,…
