obsessed with terrazzo

You might recognize it from the halls of your high school, ’70s office buildings, or the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but terrazzo isn’t only underfoot anymore. The material is breaking into the home decor world cast as planters, lamps, and candleholders. And its kaleidoscope pattern is being thrown like supersize confetti onto wallpapers, furniture, and textiles. PHOTO: JACOB FOX; PROPS: DESIGNED AND MADE BY BESLER & SONS, MOCASTORE.ORG. green your beauty routine

GIVE AWAY OLD PRODUCTS Contact a local shelter to see if it will accept unopened or gently used products. Or send them to Project Beauty Share, which will distribute lightly used products (depending on the kind) to marginalized women. Piper recommends disinfecting anything that has been in contact with your skin with a mist or two of rubbing alcohol. (Put it in a spray bottle for mess-free cleaning.) USE EVERY LAST DROP Can’t reach the serum in the bottom of the jar? If a cotton swab doesn’t get it, consider a tool designed to keep products from going to waste. One to try: Recoup Beautiscoop, a wand with two spatulas that fit through the neck of small bottles ($14; amazon.com). But don’t try to thin out the formula. “Water seriously impacts a product’s…

SHOP TALK “My work trips can be unpredictable, and space is limited, so hair products and tools that multitask are a must,” says Justine Marjan, who frequently travels with clients to photo shoots and events. (She’s also an ambassador for the hair tool company GHD.) Her favorites: A flat iron with rounded edges works like a curling iron too. It creates sleek looks, as well as curls and waves, Justine says. Deep conditioner is more than a rinse-out treatment. Justine uses it for slick-back styles, braids, and buns.
