antigua

A former British colony, this charming Caribbean island and its sister isle Barbuda boast year-round sunshine, abundant marine life and a blissful beach for every day of the year. Admiral Horatio Nelson is a key figure in Antigua’s history. He was stationed here in 1784 to enforce British laws and his legacy can be traced throughout the island, most notably at English Harbour, which served as the base for the British Navy. Just further up the harbour lies Shirley Heights, a viewing point that affords incredible views across the meandering coast. On Sundays it’s where islanders and travellers gather for Jump Up – a sunset party with a steel band, reggae music, barbecue and rum punch, a great way to savour Antigua’s laid-back and welcoming atmosphere.…

seabourn encore

The fourth vessel in Seabourn’s fleet, Seabourn Encore offers space for 600 guests and has small ship attitude in spades. Its interiors were created by the celebrated New York-based designer Adam D Tihany, renowned for his work on some of the world’s most iconic hotels, and built in Italy. Tihany explained that he envisaged something “a bit sexier” than Seabourn’s Odyssey-class ships. The results are certainly impressive and encapsulate the artistry of fine living. Having worked for four years on the design concept, Tihany sought to bring his hallmark of intimacy and detail to Seabourn Encore. “I watched how guests and crew interacted with the Seabourn Odyssey-class ships,” he told Cruise International. “I was adamant that my vision of a Seabourn ship would be more fluid and sleek. To achieve this I…
