something old, something new

For our first proper issue published in 2020, we have some incredible stories. Naoki Kobayashi, who graces the cover of this issue, has recently broken into the global movie industry. We also have an interview with Camrus Johnson from the “Batwoman” TV series and, on the home front, we’re touching base again with seasoned actor and all-around gentleman Rio Dewanto. In a surprising twist, what really resonated with me was chat talk with Santiago Carbrera about his involvement in “Star Trek: Picard.” So, here we have a well-established setting with a very familiar premise, an incredibly loyal fanbase and top-notch talent. Yet, as Carbrera pointed out, the new show is “a true departure and new beginning in so many ways.” In a way, it boldly goes where no “Star Trek” show…

MARITIME VIBES Sun, sea, summer—nautical themes has become one of the highlights for the spring/summer 2020 season. This trend is particularly well represented in the house of Lanvin summer holiday vibes and a utopian feel. Case in point would be the maison’s reversible quilted jacket, which features naval flag prints and has become one of the key looks from the brand’s latest collection. Bruno Sialeli, Lanvin’s new creative director, mentioned that the piece had references to the tourist culture of the ’70s: Loud, vibrant and a bit freakish in their own way. For more semi-formal occasions, the jacket can easily be worn with toned-down shirts and pants to keep the attention squarely on the jacket. Take a Bowl Bowling shirts have taken their place as a must-have outfit for spring/summer 2020. Above all, bowling shirts are well suited for the warm days of summer thanks to their open necklines, billowing fit and short sleeves. This trend was particularly noticeable on the runways of London and has been introduced by the designers of major brands such as Dsquared2, Dolce & Gabbana and Marni. Sail Ho This spring’s fashion trends take us to the seaside with cropped shorts, boxy sailor tops, nautical stripes and a palette of Aegean blue. These elements were present in the collections of Lanvin, Prada and Kenzo, where plenty of pieces featured cool ocean vibes while showcasing the wonders of nature. As an extension to this theme, the use of recycled material—for instance in Prada’s iconic…

The Retro Bump Lanvin has introduced the Bumper, its first unisex sneaker as part of its spring/summer 2020 collection. The first sneakers designed by new creative director Bruno Sialeli is inspired by running shoes from the 1970s. The retro vision comes not just in its classic shape but also through the aged look of the midsole, nylon upper and tongue of the shoe, wich look as if they are faded by sand and seawater. The sneaker collection is available in seven different colors ranging from two-tone looks to bright greens, purples or monochrome, made of premium nylon and leather. The iconic Lanvin logo is repeated on four angles: embroidered on the tounge in gold thread, embossed on the heel pull, engraved on the “spoiler” sole and inlaid in the treaded sole.…
