letter from the editor

Lifetime of awards At the time of writing this, I’m feeling the happiest workwise as we have just wrapped up another grand edition of our annual awards - the 64th Vimal Elaichi Filmfare Awards 2019. It’s that time of the year where one can sip a cup of coffee without a care in the world, think about spa appointments and not worry about putting on an extra pound. However, by the time, you’ll be reading this, we will be submerged into getting our other properties on board. But that’s another story. I missed Sridevi the most this year. Somehow the ache of her absence still nestles in my heart. And I’m a relative stranger. My association with her was purely professional and limited to chance meetings. My heart goes out to her…

a roaring start

Think Ranveer Singh. Think hysteria. Who would’ve imagined a press conference could be as masaledar as a potboiler! But when you have the ‘gully boy’ in the house, nothing is low key. The press conference of the 64th Vimal Elaichi Filmfare Awards 2019 was graced by superstar Ranveer Singh. It was a precursor to the grand annual event. Ranveer made a dashing entry and the guests present could hardly contain their excitement. It took a while for the audience to calm down. The actor regaled the media with his wit, charmed Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillaai, with his sweet shenanigans and spoke about his long association with Filmfare. He recalled the time when he shot for his first Filmfare cover and his big wins at the awards. The fashion icon looked suave…

they walked in glory

The 64th Vimal Elaichi Filmfare Awards 2019 was a night of celebration and cheer, when glamour brushed shoulders with glitz, when style courted sophistication. B-town’s glam brigade turned up in their individualistic best, some to take the Black Lady home and some to cheer for their peers. Preity Zinta turned up in a pink princess gown by Monique Lhuillier. A belted creation, side swept hair and bright red lips, Preity was a unanimous winner. Alia Bhatt opted for a bolder look. She wore a sexy Ralph & Russo creation with a corset top and a shimmery train. Her dewy make-up perfected her confident demeanour. The evergreen Hema Malini was honoured for completing 50 years in the industry. Golden saree with a mint brocade blouse, a soft pink lip shade and…

night of the champions!

FILMFARE AWARDS HONOUR EXCELLENCE IN CINEMA. The grand annual event brings the industry together as they celebrate and cheer for their colleagues. As the nominees and the winners are applauded, envy takes a backseat. What matters is just the brilliance and the bonhomie. This year, the Vimal Elaichi Filmfare Awards 2019 – Bolo zubaan kesari – was held outdoors at the Jio Garden, Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai – a first for us. Hence, the initial nervousness was natural. But trust Shah Rukh Khan to allay our anxiety with his calm presence. He was the master of ceremonies once again and was ably assisted by Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar at intervals. You run out of superlatives describing SRK’s on-stage persona. His warmth and wit make you believe…
