me marathi

The Karrm Filmfare Marathi Awards 2016 have just ended and on quite a spectacular note, I’m told. I’m yet to completely exhale and the preparations are on in full swing for the North Awards. Such little time, so much to do... Well, the silver lining here is that one has to watch most films that are in contention. And boy, what a journey it has been as far as Marathi cinema is concerned. I’ve always watched South Indian films and Hindi films as a matter of course but it wasn’t so with Marathi films. I’m no expert but the pundits tell me Marathi cinema has been going through a cultural revolution of sorts. The production values have enhanced, the budgets have increased and the best part is that they have ceased…

SALMANSRK’S MAGICAL NIGHT Recently, Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt dropped by at Salman Khan’s home at Galaxy apartments to chill with Bhai. Salman’s friend, Iulia Vantur, was also present along with other guests. Apart from the remarkable food, the highlight of the night was the presence of a famed hypnotist-cum-mentalist, Aamir, who hails from Israel. In the meanwhile, he secured a B-tech degree in Textiles. Currently, he’s finished his Masters in Fashion Management from Delhi and is waiting for his debut, the small-budget film Vaadiya to release. Quiz him about the fuzz and he says, “I’d trim it if for a big film. Not otherwise… my mom loves my beard!” Cute in caps!…

a friend indeed!!!

“I MET SRK JUST FOR FIVE SECONDS AT OUR SCREENING. HE HUGGED ME AND SAID ‘YOU’VE DONE A GOOD JOB’. I KEPT SMILING AND JUST MANAGED TO SAY ‘THANK YOU SIR’” Yes, Alia Bhatt mesmerised us by her portrayal of a girl fighting to voice her angst in Dear Zindagi. And if there was Shah Rukh Khan as Jehangir Khan helping her exorcise those demons, there was also her best friend, Jackie, lending her unconditional love in her journey towards self-discovery. Young actor Yashaswini Dayama, as Jackie, left audiences wishing for such a friend in their lives too… so natural and endearing was her act. And to think that Yashaswini never wanted to be an actor. All she wanted to do was to sing, music being her muse. It was just a…

daily braid

“Keep your face shape in mind when you’re picking a braid style. For a fierce look that highlights your bone structure, start braiding in the same line as you cheekbones.” As little girls, our mothers loved nothing more than giving us pigtails. Today, the tight, streamlined, functional braids have gotten a très-chic upgrade. A staple on the runway and with celebs, this romantic trend’s USP is that it complements virtually anything. Aditi Rao Hydari and Athiya Shetty add braided accents to their poker-straight hair for some texture while Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto play up their updos with plaited detailing. So gals, get workin’ on your plaitin’!…
