two much love

Alia Bhatt. She’s like a normal girl-next-door with all the quirks and hi-jinks. She will talk nineteen-to-the-dozen about everything under the sun and there will be this suppressed energy in her talk that you’d find mesmerising. Interacting with her is a dream. You can listen to her hours at a stretch and not get bored. Everything changes when the camera is turned on, when the director says ‘action’. She seemingly turns on some internal switch and becomes her character. The only other actor I’ve seen doing this is Kajol. Like Alia, Kajol will yak yak yak on the sets till she’s called for the shot and then go all teary-eyed, without glycerin, if that’s what the director needs. Alia, unlike other actresses of her era, has deliberately chosen roles which not…

rumours & more

SALMAN KHAN HEAVES A SIGH OF RELIEF Salman Khan sure must be a happy man post his acquittal by the Rajasthan court in two pending cases related to poaching the Rajasthan state animal chinkara. In 2006, Salman had been convicted by the trial court and was handed sentences of one and five years respectively for allegedly poaching three chinkaras in two separate instances. However, he was acquitted in both the cases recently. Along with Salman, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu and Sonali Bendre were also present at the court hearing in Rajasthan. RANVEERADITI’S PAST CONNECTION Much before they came together for Padmavati, the gorgeous Aditi Rao Hydari and the handsome Ranveer Singh had paired up as ‘film stars’ for a street show held in Paris at the Nuit Blanche Festival. It was a show…

Shoaib Ibrahim X-FACTOR: WILLPOWER AGE – 29 Born in Kanpur, brought up in Bhopal, Shoaib Ibrahim wanted to become an actor since he was 15. It was a huge high for him to perform in plays and dance competitions. As luck would have it, Shoaib soon got selected for a prime time TV show. But bogged down by the gruelling schedules of TV shows, he opted for a break. Today, he’s way fitter than he was – both in body and mind. Currently, he’s working on a film titled Battalion 609, a fictional story of Indo-Pak soldiers. We wish him luck.…

laila... once more!

Shah Rukh sir wrote on Twitter, ‘Pawni Pandey, thank you so much for making the song come alive. You are the other Laila of the song Pawni Pandey’s scintillating version of the iconic number Laila main Laila is a chartbuster not only on the music roster. Rather it’s even set the theatres on fire, harking back to the era of coin throwing and whistling. Naturally, young Pawni is overwhelmed by the thunder of applause. She’s glad that she could do justice to the Kalyanji- Anandji cult song that first featured in Feroz Khan’s Qurbani (1980) and was filmed on the sensuous Zeenat Aman. It was sung by Amit Kumar and Kanchan. “It’s a risky deal to belt out an iconic number for a newcomer like me,” she smiles adding, “It all…
