happy birthday mr bachchan!

Rishte mein toh woh acting ke baap lagte hain aur naam hai Amitabh Bachchan. He’s not a giant among men but a giant among giants. At 75, he’s still the benchmark, both for acting and stardom. Superlatives lose their lustre when it comes to describing him. For the last four decades, he has straddled the bucking bull of public opinion like a master rodeo player and hasn’t fallen down even once. He’s the greatest one-man show on earth, alright.I don’t know when my fascination with him actually began. It must have been during the era of the hazy black and white Doordarshan, where they showed one film weekly and you gulped them all greedily. Well, a Bachchan film back then was a cherry on the monochrome cake. Visuals didn’t matter…

SALMAN KHAN’S MASTERSTROKEThe buzz was that Salman Khan would be doing a film with Remo D’Souza based on dance. This was supposed to be the continuation of the ABCD franchise. Remo, naturally, was excited. Imagine landing Salman in your movie! But now comes the news that Salman has put the film on the backburner for the moment. Reason being, he wants to do Tips’ Race 3 instead. But the actor didn’t want to disappoint Remo D’Souza either. So he told the Tauranis to sign Remo on as the director for Race 3. The Tauranis, who were ecstatic about getting Salman on board, agreed readily to his demand. Trust Salman to keep all parties happy.KAREENA AND SONAM TAKE A CUTKareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor are shooting at full steam in Delhi…

happy beginnings

A still from Shubh Mangal SaavdhanHis Tamil directorial, Kalyana Samayal Saadham (KSS) was a runaway hit in 2013. Dealing with the taboo topic of erectile dysfunction, it was peppered with dollops of humour and a message. The Prasanna and Lekha Washington starrer won director RS Prasanna much fame and praise. So much so that he was picked up by producer Aanand L Rai to make the Hindi version, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (SMS), of the same film. And that flagged off the talented director’s journey in B-town.Though the story about sexual impotency was a risky subject Prasanna says, “A couple of things went in our favour like awareness of the targeted audience. Vicky Donor and Dum Laga Ke Haisha, both offbeat subjects, had enjoyed audience acceptance in the past,” he says.…

Siddharth Menon played a bold and sensitive role in the gay love story Loev, written and directed by Sudhanshu Saria. The role of Alex, someone who’s also integral to this same sex romance, played by Siddharth.Understandably, he has been getting lots of compliments from guys for his role. “Boys are sending me messages like ‘your body is too good’, ‘you look hot’ and ‘I love you’ on Instagram and Facebook,” laughs a flattered Siddharth. “I enjoy any kind of attention.
