The dreaded shanks I do believe that golf is, singularly, the most enjoyable, inspiring, wonderful yet exasperating and stressful sport you can play. Any sport where you can rip it up in practice on the range, then look like you have never seen a club before on the course has to be taken seriously. I played with my son last week and he has bags of potential. Somehow, he started shanking his tee shots, then his irons and wedges. Whatever he tried on the course just made the problem worse. Watching his frustration as a father was heartbreaking. We tried a few hacks, but to no avail.
