The colours, patterns and textures introduced on the runway inevitably show up in our houses. And as our “Model Home” story (page 106) shows, these days, they’re more in step than ever. PROFILE WHO: Perfumer Céline Ellena and designer Guillaume Bardet WHERE: Alpes-Maritimes and Paris, hermes.com WHAT: Scented objects and candles inspired by Japanese origami THE SCOOP: Ellena is the perfumer dedicated to Hermès’ first home fragrance collection. Her five debut scents — Des pas sur la neige, Temps de pluie, Fenêtre ouverte, Champ libre and À cheval! — were created to answer the question, What is home? “I thought, ‘What if the perfume was like the little noises in a house, experienced through your nose?’ It whispers to you like a creaking floor” she says. Each scent was assigned a signature colour, which lines the interior of the glowing white ceramic and enamel vessels Bardet designed for the candles. “They have a ghostly aspect, like the perfume does,” he says.
