I’ve always loved the idea of having a “uniform” to wear each day — a set of basics like tailored black pants and crisp, white shirts, or a denim-on-denim look. It would be so easy just to grab the same thing each morning and not worry about creating a new outfit. The problem is that I like too many different things. Some days, I want a long flowy dress and, the next, I want a smart blazer. It’s the same when it comes to decorating; I don’t know if I could ever commit to just one look. I’ve been an avid reader of H&H for more than 20 years and love the creativity and imagination of your contributors and designers. In particular, I loved Katherine Newman’s seven-foot-diameter circular island (“Pastel Perfect,” October). This is one of the most exquisite designs I’ve ever seen. It has beauty, function and creativity. I especially loved the mauve colour and bronze inlay. Then, there’s the backsplash carried up behind the glass-fronted cabinets and, most dramatically, the panelled leather and suede walls in the area off the servery. Wow! Montreal lighting and furniture studio Gabriel Scott celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. With the brand’s custom light fixtures featured in the homes of Drake and Kylie Jenner, and commercial clients including Cartier, Rockwell Group and Studio Munge, the studio continues to be a hot source for bespoke contemporary pieces. British artist and designer Luke Edward Hall has captured the romance and spirit of his most-loved travel destinations — including Venice, Rajasthan and the Cotswolds — in a new home fragrance line created with Ginori 1735. Vancouver furniture maker and firefighter Craig Pearce dovetailed his two passions when designing this wood-burning hot tub, a celebration of slow living and the first offering from his new venture Goodland. Built of recyclable materials, the tub heats up in a leisurely 90 minutes once its stove box is filled with wood. The waiting isn’t an oversight.
