Dear Reader, Fall is my favorite season. The moment the calendar turns to September, I can feel a shift in the air. The days are still warm, but there is a scent on the breeze that lets you know it won’t last long. And the nights! The warmth of the day breaks and you find yourself needing to grab a sweater to stay outside just a bit longer. Contented sigh, I love it so. In this issue, we’re embracing those warm days and cool nights with two inspired collections. In each you’ll find garments and accessories that range from super cozy to combat the cold, to light enough for layering even in the heat. The wide-open space and bright-blue skies of the Midwest prairies did not disappoint on the warm November day that I visited The Fiber Mill. As I drove into the small Nebraska town of Stromsburg (population 1,139 in 2019), the brick streets, town square, and park in the center of downtown looked like the perfect spot for farmers markets and community festivals. The Rutilant Socks are all about interesting details. Worked from the cuff down, these ankle socks feature a lace panel with twisted stitches and wrapped slipped stitches that work together to hug the ankle as a traditional ribbed cuff would.
