fun with fabric!

How does fabric make you feel? When I first started sewing, I would fixate on whole collections and plan designs with a single range in mind – the simplicity of an off-the-shelf bundle with the daunting work of choosing prints and colour to match was so alluring. Now I’ve got a bit more confidence, I’m more inclined to pick out a fat quarter here and there to mix and match from different designers and build my own bundles! I’m also much more inclined to throw in a selection of solids (an influence for which I entirely blame LP&Q!). Whether you’re treating yourself to a little fabric shopping or delving straight into your stash, we have a selection of projects to really embrace having fun with your fabric. Happy quilting! the cherry on top

RAW EDGE FUSIBLE APPLIQUÉ 1 Choose a template and trace around it on the paper side of a piece of fusible web (Fig A). If your template is not symmetrical, make sure to turn it over to trace a mirror image version of the template. Use paper scissors to cut roughly around the traced shape. 2 Place the traced shape on the wrong side of your fabric, with the paper side up and the sticky web side against the fabric. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, fuse the web to the fabric (Fig B). You may want to use a pressing sheet to protect your iron. 3 Allow your fabric to cool. Once cool, use a sharp pair of scissors to cut out your shape along the drawn line (Fig C). Repeat steps 1–3 to…
