stylish beast

THIS IS A FULL-SIZE SUV THAT FEELS LIKE A SUPER-SEDAN, RUNS LIKE A TANK AND GROWS ON YOU LIKE A GIRLFRIEND. LUXURY IS A STRANGE CREATURE. YOU CAN find it in the damndest of places, and yet it seems to be missing where you’d most expect it. That’s because it’s all in the mind, you see. So, when Lincoln—the iconic brand that has created some of the most expensive cars over the decades—zeroed in on a new Navigator, one figured it would be an update of its best-known nameplate that was launched in 1997. What we get instead is a full-size SUV that feels like a super-sedan, runs like a tank and grows on you like a girlfriend. superhero identity crisis?

With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice beating all box office records, Captain America: Civil War and X-Men Apocalypse releasing this month and DC’s Suicide Squad coming out soon, it’s easily the year of the superhero. Time for a healthy recap of bad acting? Just kidding! But seriously, here’s a look at the actors who were kinda meh superheroes the first time around and then surprised us with epic world-saving bad-assery in blockbuster movies and TV shows over the last year. BRANDON ROUTH AS SUPERMAN (2006) AND THE ATOM (2015) Routh may not have racked up a fan following by playing the world’s most famous superhero in 2006’s Superman Returns, but he achieved redemption as the microscopic power-wielding Atom on TV’s Arrow. CHRIS EVANS AS THE HUMAN TORCH (2005) AND CAPTAIN AMERICA (2016) While…

purple reign

A SENSE OF THE EXTRAORDINARY PERMEATED EVERY aspect of his existence. It probably is the norm when you happen to be talented to the point of ridiculousness and Prince certainly did take the awe his prodigious gifts inspired very casually in his stacked-heel, stockinged stride. That is not to say he could not be obtuse. In fact, one of the reasons why Prince continues to be an enigma wrapped in a conundrum is that he never stepped out without donning a cloak, possibly purple, of mystery around him which he never allowed to unravel, fully. It was evident when he began appearing with the word slave scrawled across his cheek. Now, this was completely at odds with the stature of an artiste who had made bestselling records a way of life and…

squeal like you mean it!

UNDER THE FLOODLIGHTS OF the Losail International Circuit in Qatar, the clarion call for the 2016 MotoGP World Championship was sounded. Marc Márquez and Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda Team, Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi of Movistar Yamaha MotoGP, Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso of the Ducati Team, and Maverick Viñales of Team Suzuki Ecstar blitzed the field ahead of the others, but there’s enough rivalry among these racers this season to ensure that it will be a crazy year. With new Michelin tyres and new unified electronics, the Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar not only started a new season of the MotoGP World Championship, but also began a new era. Testing had given fans a preview of who was fast and what bikes were working well, but few had…
