“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such there is no law.”– Galatians 5:22-23 Most of us are familiar with this Scripture and recognise it as the “fruit of the Spirit” – nine characteristics that the Holy Spirit begins to build into every one of us once we invite Him to take over our lives. The demonstration of these attributes becomes the hallmark of the Lord’s presence in a believer’s life. Focusing on long-suffering I want to take the opportunity to concentrate on the virtue of long-suffering. How many of us are praying for the ability to suffer and endure persecution, mocking, baiting, illness, abuse, financial pressure, and more? Enduring trials I often encourage and counsel other believers, and many times…

It is commonly thought that BC stands for “before Christ” and AD stands for “after death”. This is only half correct. BC does stand for “before Christ”, but AD is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase Anno Domini, which means “in the year of our Lord”. The BC/AD dating system is not taught in the Bible. It was, in fact, not fully implemented and accepted until several centuries after Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension. Dividing human history Interestingly, the purpose of the BC/AD dating system was to make the birth of Jesus Christ the dividing point of world history. However, when the BC/AD system was being calculated, a mistake was made in pinpointing the year of Jesus’ birth. Later scholars determined that Jesus was born 6-4 BC, not AD 1.…
“Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything more comes from the evil one.”– Matthew 5:37 I’ll be honest – I’ve always been a bit of a people pleaser. I find JU SFBMMZ IBSE UP TBZ OP PU CFDBVTF EPO U XBOU UP CF IPOFTU but because I genuinely want to help. I want to be there for everyone, say yes to every opportunity, and not disappoint anyone. The problem? I’ve said yes too quickly, too often, and with too little capacity to actually follow through to the standard I aspire towards. And that’s where the trouble begins. It’s not just about overcommitting. It’s about integrity. Boundaries are Biblical We often think that saying no makes us selfish, but that’s not true. Setting boundaries is actually a sign…
Tucked away in the mountains of Turkey and the Middle East grows an unassuming plant that many have never heard of: Triticum dicoccoides, also known as wild emmer wheat. It doesn’t look particularly impressive. But this ancient grain holds a powerful testimony to God’s providence, if we’re willing to see it. Not just any plant Unlike modern, highly engineered crops, wild emmer grows naturally in very specific environments. What’s remarkable is that its DNA is far more complex than one would expect from a “wild” plant. It is built with inbuilt duplication systems, able to hybridise and survive in challenging conditions. Some researchers call it“genetically preloaded”. In other words, it was already equipped to adapt, combine with other species, and thrive in future agricultural environments. For something as delicate as…
