Ruby Jubilee I completed the Ruby Jubilee Mystery Quilt! (Quiltmaker January 2022—December 2022) This was a very fun challenge. I did quilt-as-you-go method on my domestic machine with each of the nine sections. It worked fantastically. I used scraps from family and friends as well as a few fun new fabrics. A freehand quilting design is quilted by memorization. Each design is governed by simple rules, much like writing in cursive. Once you memorize the rules, these designs can be quilted anywhere on your quilts and on any scale. Scale refers to the size of the design—the space between the lines of quilting. The closer the lines are together, the stiffer your quilt will feel. However, if the lines are too far apart, the quilting design will not add much texture or interest to the quilt.
