Each time you step on board, a WONDERFUL new experience awaits From memorable personal moments (surprise birthday fireworks, a magical engagement party dinner), to encounters with nature in stunning locations (swimming with a brace of friendly dolphins), the captains we’ve been talking to this month have been creating unique charter experiences for their guests. You can read all about what they have been up to in the past 12 months from page 45 in our My Charter Year feature. It’s a reminder that a vital element of the amazement and the sheer sense of freedom that charter parties feel is in large part down to some careful curation by the captains and crews. The two owners we’ve been in conversation with this month know a thing or two about creating the perfect…

The owners have been CLOSELY involved in the yacht’s CREATION VANISH Startling new Feadship with Eidsgaard styling The 66.25-metre Vanish , which has interior and exterior styling by Eidsgaard Design, was launched by Feadship in January and is shown here undergoing sea trials. The yacht’s owners have been closely involved in the creation of Vanish , with a number of solutions to suit how the yacht will be used, including helipads on the foredeck and sundeck. Other key features include a beach club spa with sauna, massage room and hairdressing salon, and an outdoor cinema. show stoppers

Back for its second incarnation this May is the London Yacht, Jet & Prestige Car Show, held in the historic Old Billingsgate site beside the Thames and in the shadow of the City of London. The show, which takes place from May 4-6 (and until May 7 for the on-water event), showcases superyacht builders and brokers, interior designers and furniture makers, private jet manufacturers, the very best car makers, and a host of luxury goods and service companies. Once again, SuperYacht World is proud to be attending the show as a media sponsor (stop by if you are visiting - we’ll be on R01). This year, the inside and outside elements of the show will have a more distinct character, with Old Billingsgate hosting Prestige London, and the London On-Water show…

“We spent 10 months doing the CHANGES. It was absolutely MAD!” Benetti and the owner of 11.11 have created a striking boat with stunning design features, but as with many things, beauty also comes from unexpected places. Personality can make all the difference, and 11.11 has this in spades. A unique and key aspect of this yacht is that she changed hands before her launch, and took on a new life with just 10 months to go before she was due to leave her Italian shipyard. The new owner burst onto the scene with a vitality that comes from being part of a design dynasty, and worked tirelessly with his team to change and reshape an unloved project into his idea of a floating paradise. And this adventure shines through in every…

the finer things

In the age of mass manufacture and instant consumption, craftsmanship is under pressure. We can appreciate the skilled workmanship that goes into making a Patek Philippe watch, a Purdey shotgun, a Savile Row suit and a pair of John Lobb shoes because we view them as long-term investments, but there is always the pressure on the very top brands to locate and train people who want to produce to such high standards. It can take ten years to train a gem-setter in the ateliers of the Place Vendôme or a master tailor, and in the modern world few are willing or patient enough to devote that time and dedication to learn a craft. So David Linley, who trained at Parnham House School in Dorset with the great furniture-maker John Makepeace, has…

my charter year

RHINO A Captain Wayne Jones What have you been up to? We had a very successful season, split between the French Riviera and the Balearics, with some amazing weather - we had many great sightings of wildlife, almost on a daily basis. The winter period has meant taking some well-deserved time with my family, as well as planning and executing a moderate refit to Rhino A in preparation for the forthcoming season. Our repeat clients will notice a few changes on board but most have been upgrades under the hood. Highlight of the year? Seeing my daughter grow over the winter months! Plans for 2016? Rhino A will be relocating to Montenegro for the 2016 summer season. We already have many clients booked who are excited about cruising down the Amalfi coast, followed by…
