When we began working on this issue, we had no idea that by the time it reaches you we’d have retreated into another lockdown. With daily news confronting us with unforeseen tragedies and common people taking on many acts of bravery, this roller-coaster year has veered us from despair, to hope and back to helplessness all over again. Everyone is hurting. And when you read this, we may still be unsure of how long it will last. Somehow, the second wave seems to be harder, tougher and darker.
