Chris Colls PHOTOGRAPHER Australian born-and-raised Colls discovered the world of fashion through the pages of his mother’s magazine collection, and began his career as a portrait photographer in the regional town of Geelong, Victoria, at 16. He worked his way to Sydney and Melbourne to shoot fashion, “always dreaming to work in Europe and America”. His dream was realised when he relocated to New York City in 2012. Inspired by art and architecture in both his photography and directing work, this passion is also evident in his design-classic-laden SoHo loft in New York City, which Colls shares with partner, model/artist Alexandra Agoston. The fashionable couple offered Vogue Living a glimpse into their refined mid-century aesthetic (page 51). Contributing to publications such as British Vogue, Vogue Paris and W Magazine, has allowed the…

take the tour

Swedish fashion label Acne Studios is traditionally known for its unique take on everyday clothes. Now, the brand has opened up its extraordinarily cool Stockholm headquarters with great aplomb. Located in the former Czechoslovakian Embassy, the office is unlike any standard workspace — there’s certainly no cookie-cutter cubicles here. Working with Johannes Norlander Arkitektur on the fit-out, the brand tapped artists and designers including Daniel Silver and Max Lamb to produce custom pieces for the interior, which was designed to echo the creative ambience of a high-end fashion school. bringing it home

Showy or sombre, practical or crazy, fashion designers are crossing the line from clothes to interior design. Dolce & Gabbana’s madcap Smeg kitchen appliances patterned with Sicilian motifs, Gucci’s outpouring of objects from creative director Alessandro Michele and Kenzo Takada’s new luxury home and lifestyle collection are just part of a growing story: in a world where conscientious shoppers are thinking about the wastefulness of ever-changing fashion, home is where the heart — and the art — is. In Italy, enthusiasm has grown for the Salone del Mobile in Milan as the design world’s most sophisticated annual showcase. Yet this is a trend that has developed over half a century, not just a millennial moment when a new generation takes over. Fashion creators have embraced the art of fine living since at…
