Editor’s Letter
I’m in Australia as I write this editor’s letter, and two days ago I was Zooming with my team at 11 P.M. their time, choosing pictures on an urgent deadline for a cover story. The shoot had already been postponed thanks to Omicron, and we had lost our location the night before because, despite our rigorous safety precautions, the homeowners were nervy about…Omicron. This happened throughout the production of our March fashion issue. COVID-positive crew members dropped out at the last minute, shoot dates moved, testing costs grew by thousands of dollars—the ground was constantly shifting beneath our feet. The great ruse of magazines is that we make it look like the magnificent women we feature just glide onto our pages. They do not. Especially not now. I am running a picture…
