Over the years, I’ve learned that a principle of house hunting applies to Apple events too—don’t fall for the sizzle features. Our CEO David Averbach taught me this. Whether it’s a new home or an iPhone, he said, you should look for the features that will improve your quality of life, not just catch your attention. Last time I was in the market for a home, I remember falling in love with the marble fireplace and towel heating racks installed in every bathroom. After moving in, I rarely warmed towels or lit fires, but instead found long-term satisfaction in the soft-close cabinets in the kitchen that stopped me from banging doors and the multi-zone thermostat that kept the upstairs and downstairs temps just right. Apple’s releases work much in the same way.…
