growth industry I must have the need to grow plants deep in my family tree. Both branches were farmers as far back as anyone can remember. Maybe that’s why I’ve always loved gardening and learning about new plants. That’s also why I feel a bond with garden editor Jane Austin Miller (with me at left). Jane and I speak the same gardening language: botanical Latin. Everyone else in our editorial meetings might roll their eyes when we casually throw around names like Asclepias tuberosa, but we wear the title “plant nerd” proudly.
