celebration in difficult times

THIS MONTH CAR INDIA completes 15 years of publication. I would like to thank all our readers for supporting the only dedicated car magazine in the country. It is customary for us to do some special stories to celebrate the anniversary of the magazine. However, it was very difficult to do so this year because inter-city travel is not allowed. We are glad that even with such restrictions in place, we have some exclusive stories for you in this anniversary issue. The automobile industry is trying to regain some of its sales figures. It is a big challenge not only to sell cars, but also to manufacture them because some of the ancillary suppliers are located in containment zones. what makes us different

UNLIKE OTHER AUTOMOBILE magazines, Car India is 100 per cent devoted to cars of all kinds. There are no bikes or commercial vehicles to be found in Car India. Therefore, we have a very focused readership and also give our advertisers better bang for their buck! Our editorial team is passionate about cars. They live, drink, eat and breathe cars. This lends the crucial extra touch to their editorial efforts. Our editorial team is bound by a strict code of conduct. In an industry where foreign junkets and gifts are rampant in order to win over editorial staff, we strive hard to maintain our editorial integrity and balance. Our emphasis is on bringing out a quality, information-packed issue that does not rely on mere filling up of pages. We are not in competition…

darkest black

THE MERCEDES-AMG GT BLACK SERIES IS THE MOST POWERFUL PRODUCTION AMG EVER sold. Its 730-hp LS2 engine with a cross-plane crankshaft and a whole lot of aero set it apart. Yes, the new codename for the 4.0-litre biturbo V8 under the bonnet in the front-mid section is “M178 LS2”. A significant rework, new components, and revisions give it 730 hp and 800 Nm. It runs a 180° flat- or cross-plane crankshaft, a 1-8-2-7-4-5-3-6 firing order, and ignition in the flat-plane V8 jumps from one cylinder bank to the next for an improved gas cycle and response. A SpeedShift DCT 7G handles the torque on tap. The front-engine-rear-gearbox set-up means that a 13.9-kg carbon torque-tube directly connects the engine output shaft to the gearbox input shaft; spinning at up to 6,900 rpm in…
