double whammy

THE LAST COUPLE OF months have been very difficult for everybody and especially so for the automotive industry. The second wave of COVID-19 has hit us with a vengeance with recorded daily cases in excess of 400,000. God alone knows what the actual number is. The lucky ones have taken a salary cut and still have a job, whereas most people have lost their means of livelihood. To make matters worse, the cost of fuel keeps going up every day and this, in turn, pushes the price of essential commodities due to the increase in the cost of transport. what makes us different

UNLIKE OTHER AUTOMOBILE magazines, Car India is 100 per cent devoted to cars, SUVs and MUVs. There are no bikes or commercial vehicles to be found in Car India. Therefore, we have a very focused readership and also give our advertisers better bang for their buck! Our editorial team is passionate about cars. They eat, drink, live and breathe cars. This lends the crucial extra touch to their editorial efforts. Our editorial team is bound by a strict code of conduct. In an industry where foreign junkets and gifts are rampant in order to win over editorial staff, we strive hard to maintain our editorial integrity and balance. Our emphasis is on bringing out a quality, information-packed issue that does not rely on mere filling up of pages. We are not in competition…

THE ELECTRIC HIGH-PERFORMANCE future is getting clearer. Mercedes-AMG have revealed their new E Performance underpinnings with greater potential on tap in four-cylinder and eight-cylinder plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and full-electric guises. Mercedes-AMG’s new E Performance systems allow for significantly increased output and fuel savings. A compact 400-volt, 6.1-kWh battery pack will power one or more of the new AMG-specific 150-kW motors with 204 hp and 320 Nm. The motor won’t be a part of the new 9MCT (nine-speed multi-clutch) automatic transmission, as it is in the EQ Power models, but will sit on the rear axle with its own two-speed transmission for optimal performance. Four-cylinder 63? The four-cylinder PHEV pairing, first expected to be seen in the new AMG C-Class, will have the new M139 in-line four taken to up to 449…

Built on the MQB-A0 platform, the Fabia gets a more spacious interior, practical design, excellent dynamics, and optimum aerodynamics.
