Last night my boyfriend and I stayed home and ate a platter of fresh oysters for dinner. The plates overflowed with three varieties from three farms up and down Australia’s East Coast, from Nambucca to Merimbula. Each was slightly different, but all were creamy and delicious and arrived via contact-free delivery from a refrigerated van. Home-delivered oysters… why have we not been doing this the whole time? This is one thing that will stick around after COVID-19 recedes. Good, locally grown and made products and door-to-door service will stay – that will be the new normal. And why not? Recently, I’ve received 10 hydrangea saplings in the mail (posted from the Mornington Peninsula) and my cookbook orders have been turning up on the doorstep. My goldfish need more aquatic plants…
