For our summer holiday issue, we needed to find the right house to shoot for the cover. It had to be inviting, charming and give off big beachy vibes. We found all this and more in Sydney at the Avalon home of architect Graeme Bell. The renovation of his modernist dream home has been a labour of love for Graeme, with his faithful restorations scheduled in between building projects that have varied from mid-century-modern houses to grand city apartments and even an art deco eatery – the Niagara Cafe – in Gundagai.
