warm homespun greetings

The sweet and tender spring season is around the corner in this new year, 2019. We are keenly focused on fresh ideas and exciting new projects. Our families continue to grow with new babies, new friends, and more love than we could ever have imagined. Speaking of love, wait until you see the projects in this issue. There are several floral themes in spring and summer palettes, nods to the simple farm life of the Midwest, delightful hot air balloons, scrappy baskets, and some valentine-perfect items. You’re sure to find something that speaks to you, whether cotton, wool, punch needle, hooking, machine-or hand-stitching. You’ll also find a 4-part mystery quilt and a 3-part sampler. about the projects

Templates You will notice the format of the templates varies from project to project. Our handy “crow” system will help you decide which project best suits your particular skill level. Results We believe the instructions for the projects are accurate. The projects have been proofread by our technical editor. Because materials, equipment, and individuals vary, your…

In her Designer Notes response for this issue, Deanna Hodson mentioned that her Sister-in-Law, Reba, and church sewing group make children’s quilts that are given to a local children’s safe home and to other special needs that arise within their community. We reached out to Reba to get more information. For the past 20 years in a small town near Lincoln, Nebraska, a group of ladies at the United Methodist Church in Malcolm get together every Monday to make quilts. There are seven regular participants: Brenda, Joan, Chris, Marjorie, Carol, Jane, and Reba. At times, two gals named Deb join them to add bindings. They call themselves “Women of Faith,” and in 20 years have donated almost 700 quilts to those in need. It all started with just a couple women…
