Dear Jeni, I am new to your magazine. For wool appliqué, do you use wool felt or woven wool yardage? Or both? How does one clean these projects, since wool felt is not washable? Our designers mostly use 100 percent wool in their projects… either hand-dyed wool or off-the-bolt wool, but not non-woven wool felt. The main thing is to make sure you are buying from a reputable business and asking if it is colorfast. Often quilt shops carry an extensive selection, although you won’t find wool in larger craft stores. Wool is not inexpensive, so felt or flannel are also options, although felt has the drawback you mention of not being washable. I occasionally wash my wool appliqué quilts…
