Intelligent technologies are dramatically transforming modern societies. The potential economic and social benefits of these technologies seem unprecedented. Intelligent technologies are therefore increasingly being involved in a variety of decision-making contexts, as such influencing a wide variety of outcomes that are important to human end-users. This reality means that intelligent technologies will and have to be used for good so they do not endanger the stability of our social fabric and the sanctity of our human autonomy.
