I’m so excited to bring you the timeless comedy duo, Wallace & Gromit on page 10! You’ll definitely want to put the kettle on and settle into your favourite armchair with this smashing portrait. As the days get warmer and lockdown rules start to ease here in the UK, we’re looking forward to doing some of the things we’ve missed, like trips to the beach and music festivals! You can enjoy these things through cross stitch too in this month’s cheery makes. Lucie Heaton’s beach-themed wedding cards can be used as invites or congrats for summer nuptials (p68). Turn to page 74 for Lesley Teare’s stunning scene of a girl picking wildflowers in a meadow and our festival motif collection will get you in the mood for dancing (p47). We know that…

meet our guests

Hannah Bentley is a drama teacher from Salford How did you start stitching? I was 13 and my first piece was a Forever Friends wedding gift for some family friends who still have it up in their house 25 years later! Fave cross stitch project? ‘Spring Window’ pattern. I gave it as a gift to a neighbour and she absolutely loves it. Your worst stitching disaster? I left a half-finished project next to a full drink. My three year old reached for the drink and it spilt. I washed the stitching straight away but the stain was too dark, I had to throw it away. Fave cross stitch designer? Emma Congdon’s designs are so vibrant. I love Jody Rice of Satsuma Street too. Fave WOXS design? The Family Chalkboard from 303 (Feb 2021). Best compliment? I’m often asked to stitch wedding gifts. Proudest moment? I…

well done, gromit!

We know he likes a spot of knitting so we’re sure Gromit will be able to turn his paws to cross stitch and recreate this splendid portrait of himself and Wallace. Styled on the framed photo of the much-loved duo, and one of Gromit’s most prized possessions, the clever pooch will discover that cross stitch is relaxing enough to soothe his jangled nerves after the fallout from Wallace’s inventions and capers. The eccentric inventor and his canine friend are recreated in cross stitch for the first time in The World of Cross Stitching and every square of the fabric is stitched, down to the half cross stitch pattern for the wallpaper. Backstitch is worked in coloured threads to outline that famous grin and their expressions are captured perfectly with backstitch and…
