MAKEOVER MAGIC After searching for a bathroom cabinet that was a little bit different, I managed to find this one on eBay for £25. I painted it using an Annie Sloan paint and arranged my vintage bottles filled with bath oils and salts inside – they look so much better than the plastic ones. Needless to say, I absolutely love it, and hope you do too! Zuzana Finnerty, by email Your Home says Wow, your new bathroom cabinet is incredible, Zuzana! It looks so chic and professional, especially against the marble tiles. ★ Zuzana’s letter has won her a bouquet of flowers from Blossoming Gifts. Send us your projects and photos and you could be next month’s winner! Can’t beat it I upcycled this old, solid-wood coffee table for my son’s new flat. I used pictures…

How to… prepare your garden furniture for the summer With the warmer months fast approaching, it’s high time you prepared for the flood of summer gatherings and got your outdoor furniture in tip-top shape. Dust off the cobwebs and follow these simple steps… First things first, prepare the area where you want to put your furniture. Brush away any debris and consider using a jet spray for a deeper clean. Use soapy water or a specialist PVC cleaner for plastic furniture and remove any mildew build-up with a mould-removing spray. After months spent hidden away in your garden shed, there’s likely to be some marks or dirt to brush off your furniture, but there could be deeper damage too.…

we test… paint strippers

THINGS WE CONSIDERED ● How easy was it to use? ● How long did it take to work? ● How effective was it? PAINT PANTHER PAINT & VARNISH REMOVER, £16.99 FOR 1L , BARRETTINE With a nice, thick viscosity this stripper was easy to apply with a paintbrush and didn’t drip. We left it on for an hour and the paint started bubbling up really quickly. It was easy to then scrape off the old paint and clean up the surface with sandpaper afterwards. It removed the old paint really effectively and we were very impressed with the results. DIALL PAINT & VARNISH REMOVER, £7 FOR 1L , B&Q This benzyl alcohol stripper was simple to apply and clung well to the paintwork. We applied the first coat with a paintbrush and left it on for an hour,…
