The Irish can laugh at themselves and this 1970s joke was best delivered totally dead-pan to try to avoid the listener realizing what was being said: “Ireland is going to switch to the European way of driving next year.” “Really?” “Yes, it’s the Common Market thing, they are going to drive on the right like Europeans.” “Oh.
