I started my career at Philmont Scout Ranch, Allen, where I did all kinds of important burro business and even won an award for it. (Note from The Boss: Don’t let the four-legged furball fool you. The “award” was for Philmont’s Laziest Burro.) The prize for my hard-earned honor was a trip to Boys’ Life headquarters. Oddly, they only sprung for a one-way ticket. υυ DEAR MOST-LOVED, ALFALFA-MILKSHAKEDRINKING, TUMBLEWEED-TACO-EATING PEDRO, Do you ever get tired of your job? I clean the bathroom counters, and it gets really boring. Barrett F., Fort Worth, Texas Sharing letters with you guys and gals? Boring? Never! This work, work, work is so much better suited for my talents than all those busy burro burdens at Philmont. (Have you ever cleaned the bathroom counter in a burro…

You can also buy a photo album and place pictures and decorations inside, or make one online with an adult’s help at sites like shutterfly.com and collage.com • Use a handheld hole puncher to punch three holes into the side of each piece of paper (number of pages varies depending on how many pictures you use). • Bring the sheets together by using three pieces of string or ribbon or three book rings. • Print out and glue the photos into the book and write special notes on the pages. • Decorate the pages and cover by using markers, stickers and glitter.…

TRAINING STELLA I recently got a German shepherd puppy that I named Stella. She is currently 48 pounds and is 5 months old. Stella is taking an American Kennel Club good-citizen class. We are going to train her to be a diabetes-awareness dog for my brother. After she’s trained, she will be able to alert my brother if his blood-sugar levels are too high or too low 15-20 minutes before his pump does. Stella likes treats and running around in the backyard. Right now, we are trying to introduce her to new people and places. Overall, she is a very cute and healthy puppy. VOLUNTEER AWARD A few years ago, I became very interested in magnet fishing, and over the past two years, I’ve recruited several friends to join me in this fun and…

I'm a collector. I like to collect everything from neckerchiefs to action figures to trading cards and more. The problem? My friends think it’s a silly hobby. Is it? Steve: Not to anyone who owns, say, a Rocket-Firing Boba Fett. According to a recent thegamer.com story, this super-rare Star Wars figure is valued at $150,000! Most collectibles aren’t worth nearly that much, of course, but collecting can be a fun, rewarding activity, so long as you don’t go broke chasing items. Stay reasonable, and your true friends will likely accept your hobby eventually. (Oh, and if you do somehow have that Boba Fett, don’t let it out of your sight!) Jenny: If you enjoy it, of course it’s not silly! It’s fantastic. And I’ll bet if you continue with this hobby, you’ll…
