DAN KNOTT Photographer Since cutting his teeth shooting from the mosh pits of Sydney’s punk and hardcore music scenes, Dan Knott was hooked. Seeking a contrasting muse from the lush terrains of his hometown in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Dan crossed the border into the bustling art scene of London, where he perfected his technique and became at home behind the lens. Fast forward three years and Dan has become a regular around the fashion photography circuit, shooting for the glossy pages of magazines, e-commerce shoots and our very own cover shoot with Ollie Henderson. SARAH THEEBOOM Writer Sarah Theeboom is a lifestyle writer and editor based in Brooklyn, New York. She covers food, culture and travel because those are the things she spends all her time and money on anyway. (She actually…

43 editor’s letter

When I posted on Instagram that I’d be spending most of February meditating in India, most people assumed that I’d take a hiatus from work; a chance to sit down (literally, for days!) and allow my mind to be white space – no brainstorming, no concocting or creating. To be honest, I thought this would be the case too. I thought I was returning to India, to the place I visited just before Christmas, to go deep into spiritual contemplation, unwind and re-centre. And, I did achieve all those things. As I write this from India I feel rejuvenated, nourished and grounded on another level. But, my trip has also ignited a new fire within me. Over and over again in my meditations, one word kept emerging out of my subconscious…

from practice to purpose

SYDNEY In the tropical splendour of Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel on February 7, we hosted goal-makers and goal-achievers alike at our From Practice to Purpose breakfast, held in partnership with lululemon. Hosted by the charismatic Scenic Cycle founder Tom Sproats, our 40 friendly guests experienced a decadent breakfast and an extended discussion on long-term visions and achieving goals. The morning began with a seven-minute meditation session with Kevin Jankelowitz of Centred Meditation, then we heard from our speakers. Brooke McAlary, author and creator of podcast Slow Your Home, discussed the benefits of life simplification and how a minimalist approach to life can reduce stress; and Libby Babet, ‘entertrainer’ and health and fitness expert, discussed how keeping busy can be the key to a more fulfilled existence. We also heard from lululemon, as they…

HAS COLLECTIVE HUB INSPIRED YOU TO START A BUSINESS? WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! WINNER! Thank you for helping me find my mojo! I’ve been struggling to find inspiration over the past 18 months. What started as a lacklustre feeling led to desperation and resigning from a job I once loved. Even after a two-month sabbatical, I still couldn’t seem to recover that spark. That is, until I picked up your magazine at the newsagent yesterday and read it from front to back in a matter of hours. Now I am lit! (On inspiration, of course.) I start at a new company on Monday and can’t wait to bring my lost-butnow- found A-game. Thanks for lighting me up again! Emily Houlahan I started following Collective Hub after a girlfriend gave me one of…
