First Date by Duncan Graham 500px.com/duncangraham “Boscombe Pier has always been special to me as it is where I met my wife Viv for our first date and I return there to mentally reset and to have fun with waves and exposure lengths. This December morning the waves were at good regular intervals and also at low tide. The spectacular colour pre-sunrise was an unexpected and very welcome bonus.” Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with 16-35mm f/4L lens. Exposure: 0.8 seconds at f/16 (ISO 100). Barrier by Duncan Graham 500px.com/duncangraham “Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset has so much drama and I particularly love it here in stormy weather where the drama of the incredible geology matches that of nature’s forces. I always prepare well with knowledge of tide times and sea conditions so as to keep safe…

catch of the day!

NOW IN ITS fourth year, the Bird Photographer of the Year competition continues to grown in popularity, with over 13,500 images received from 63 countries around the world. With a range of categories covering everything from birds in flight to creative imagery, the diversity of species and techniques on show provide a spectacular showcase of our feathery friends. UK photographers proved successful, with Caron Steele's image 'Dancing On Ice' winning not only the Best Portrait category but also helping Caron scoop the accolade of Bird Photographer of the Year 2019, as well as the top prize of £5,000. Not bad considering she only took up photography seriously in 2014 when she got her first DSLR! “DANCING ON ICE’ IS AN IMAGE THAT HAD ME LEAPING FROM MY CHAIR WITH JOY THE MOMENT…
