Clear away the dust of the past year and with it all the bad feelings. Fege den Staub des letzten Jahres fort und mit ihm alle unguten Gefühle. – Chinesische Weisheit – Dear readers, It is almost impossible to make Christmas plans with the global pandemic upsetting travel plans and social lives, and looking like doing so for some time to come, despite the wonderful news that vaccines are close to being ready for public release. But this strange year notwithstanding, we are just a few weeks away from Christmas – a day that traditionally brings joy, light and laughter to the darkest days of the year, and for this reason we should celebrate with more enthusiasm than ever! No one knows what the future holds, especially this year, one of the oddest years…

inside the whale

Andenes in Norway is one of the best places in the world for whale watching. This is due to the geological formation – a canyon under the surface of the water which runs almost to the shore and allows the passage from land to whale-friendly depths in just a short boat ride. The whole area is blessed with an abundance of sea life, including several species of whale which frolic off-shore all year round. The first whale-watching station in Andenes was established in 1988 and it has grown from strength to strength, now forming a major tourist attraction. And it was with tourists in mind that an international competition was held in November last year to bring to fruition the 2014 dream of a world-class whale-based attraction with exhibits, information…

underwater restaurant in norway

Half-sunk into the icy cold waters of Lindesnes, Under invites you dine beneath the water's surface – five metres below, in fact. Designed with panoramic views of the seabed, the underwater restaurant under offers a visual gateway to a region seldom seen by man – and not usually while dressed up and dining comfortably! Guests are given a unique connection to the marine eco-system of the North Atlantic Ocean which enhances their dining out experience. Under was designed with sensitivity towards the environment, both the habitat it would be occupying and its usual inhabitants, now the eatery's aquatic neighbours! In time, it is hoped that the rough concrete shell will blend seamlessly into the marine environment, attracting growths and settlements of limpets and kelp. Halb versunken in den eiskalten Wassern von…

the sleek and elegant new ferrari roma

A sleek and elegant powerhouse is what one expects from a Ferrari, but add in understated chic and a more restrained (while still striking) body, and you have the new Ferrari Roma, a V8 2+ coupe, which combines a classic Ferrari's power and speed with a slightly more domesticated profile. In looks, the Roma boasts aero-dynamically clean lines, harmonious proportions and sumptuous comfort inside. The vehicle fits perfectly into Ferrari's GT (grand tourer, or to give it a truly Italian flourish, gran turismo) range, while including the latest in technological and digital enhancements under the hood and on the dashboard. An example of this is the rear spoiler, which can be deployed when downforce is necessary to keep the Ferrari Roma firmly on the road, or retracted to restore the…
