welcome

As we welcome in not just a new year but a new decade, the time feels right to consider the longer-term trends emerging in kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms. While the kitchen has always been at the heart of the home, the multi-functional living space that it is today reflects a lifestyle change that will last a generation. From sleek, to industrial, to Shaker, there are many looks that work fantastically in this open, serving-all-purposes social space. Against a climate of chaos and uncertainty, more than ever we need our homes to be oases of calm and stillness . Dulux’s colour forecast for 2020, Tranquil Dawn, reflects this in a neutral but natural green hue that brings energy and freshness to a kitchen. After mulling over their options, they added a single-storey extension to the rear of the house, complete with bronze-framed glazed doors offering spectacular…

q & a

Tell us about the kitchen cabinetry. The furniture is classic and traditionally made with an Edwardian style in-frame panelled door with inset profile, but what really makes this kitchen stand out is the level of detail in the design and the fine craftsmanship. For example, the fridge freezers and wine cabinet are encapsulated within a hand-carved, curved marble frame with a solid brass inlay and another of stained American walnut. The breakfast bar is made from a solid piece of the same timber with a waterfall edge profile, inlaid with brass and inset with a beautiful piece of natural Taj Mahal quartzite. How did you come up with the blend of materials and colours? We felt it was important to use some darker tones to add definition and character to the…
