It pays to check your bank accounts Just writing to thank you for the Best of the Best issue. A winner as usual. I always make sure to check the bank accounts section. Strangely, ubank was left out. It pays an interest rate of 3.85% (at time of print), so long as you deposit $200 per month. However, the point of me writing is that I've just discovered that my Bankwest bank accounts were discontinued a year ago – specifically the Hero Transaction Account and the Smart eSaver. I'm earning point-something interest on these accounts. Meanwhile, I could have been earning 2.85% with Easy Saver linked with Easy Transaction. Banks are under no obligation to tell you when they discontinue your product. Nor are they required to inform you that there are new and…
