When the RSPCA rescued 30 dogs from a puppy farm in Essex in December 2013, they were in a terrible way – one pup, Rolo, now seven, almost didn’t survive. When Gill Daghistani took in a wounded dog, Wolfie, she was so inspired by his story that she set up an animal rehabilitation and adoption charity for disabled dogs, which has now saved the lives of more than 500 pooches with special needs. Wolfie’s Legacy is based in Holywell, Wales, and receives thousands of calls every year, day and night, from people looking to rehome sick and disabled dogs.
