Regarding Can the mums vs non-mums divide ever be fixed? (25 June), can we please stop judging each other! As an employed single mum, I worked my butt off doing my level best to keep up with child-free colleagues. Everyone has stuff going on in their lives that they have to weave their jobs around – not just children. Flexible working practices across the board would make life easier, but judging each other on the basis of whether you have kids is damaging and regressive. In the 1950s, my mother had to give up her job when she married – that’s what was expected. Women have so many more choices now about what we can do – let’s not spoil what’s been achieved.
