Yesterday I wrote about a friend who challenged me to “walk differently” to reduce my sense of entitlement.
While I was, of course, not transcribing our conversations, I think I have honestly captured the core of my travelling companion’s message to me.
In response, I recall expressing that he was perhaps being a little harsh.
“Only if it is not true, then I am being harsh. But, it is true,” he said.
“Life has taught us to share,” he said, referring to himself and his close friend.
“You have been taught to own. To dominate.”
I’ve mulled this for years.
I took it to heart. I knew he was right.
