Meet Our Women Changing the World A few months ago my friend’s 7-year-old daughter was watching TV and turned to her mom and said, “I wish I was a boy. They are just so much better.” She’d been tuning in to a lot of superhero cartoons and felt that being a boy was a lot more exciting. The episode reminded me why it’s so important that People tell the stories of strong women. This, our annual Women Changing the World issue, is full of those stories. My friend’s daughter can look to Brie Larson, who is the first woman to lead a billion dollar superhero franchise—and is also using her platform to increase diversity in Hollywood. The new dad, 35, shocked royal insiders on the last evening of the couple’s tour of South Africa with an Oct. 1 statement slamming those in the U.K. press who have waged what he calls “a ruthless campaign” against Meghan that “escalated throughout her pregnancy and while raising our newborn son,” 5-month-old Archie. Evoking the 1997 death of his mom, Princess Diana, he wrote, “I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.” The statement coincided with a lawsuit filed by Meghan, 38, against the Mail on Sunday over the publication of a letter she wrote to her father Thomas Markle. “The…
After calling it quits last month with reality star Kaitlynn Carter, Miley Cyrus is back in the dating game. On Oct. 3 the singer—who announced her separation from husband Liam Hemsworth in August—was spotted out for breakfast with Australian singer Cody Simpson in L.A. “She was sitting on his lap and started kissing him,” says a witness. Days later Simpson, 22 (who previously dated Gigi Hadid), shared video of the couple enjoying a night in. Responding to backlash for moving on so quickly, Cyrus, 26, defended her right to date. “I was in a committed relationship for almost All of my teens and early 20s,” she wrote on Instagram Oct. 4. “Get used to me dating—this is where I am at!”…
