American post-rock proggers Hiroe (pronounced‘Hero-way’) have announced the release of their debut album, Wield, which is out via Pelagic on June 20, and arrives three years after their calling card EP, Wrought.
Hailing from Philadelphia, PA and formed and led by guitarist Eric Kusanagi, the five-piece include guitarist Brian Kong, bassist Jon Seiler, and Dan Sagherian on drums. Former bassist Jill Paslier has switched up to third guitar to add greater harmonic depth.
The new album finds Hiroe expanding their sound and reuniting with producer Mario Quintero.
“We wanted to show a larger range of musical themes on this record,” says Kusanagi.
“You’ll hear us dive into some synth work, some piano work, and some really interesting effects that Mario helped us dial up.”
