welcome to total film

Altogether now: “Here come the Men in Black [clap clap], galaxy defenders…” Yep, this month I was on set of new spin-off Men In Black: International, watching Hemsworth and Thompson zap ETs with an arsenal of weaponry and discussing the art of running in heels. (Spoiler: Tessa Thompson can floor it in four-inchers.) While I was messing about with Cricket guns, my fellow MIBs [well, editorial colleagues] were chatting with Julianne Moore, visiting the Rocketman set, hanging out at Star Wars Celebration, picking through unseen Alien pics, investigating the merger of the X-Men and MCU, getting giddy about Toy Story 4 and finding out what makes John Wick 3 tick. All pretty unforgettable we think you’ll agree… so let’s keep that neuralyser at a safe distance, OK? ENJOY THE ISSUE!…

call sheet

JAMIE GRAHAM EDITOR-AT-LARGE I rewatched the entire Nightmare On Elm Street series because… why not? Drew the line at the Freddy’s Nightmares TV series and the 2010 remake, though. JORDAN FARLEY NEWS EDITOR Went to Star Wars Celebration in Chicago and spotted this cosplay that perfectly combines my two obsessions in life: Star Wars and Captain America. MATT MAYTUM DEPUTY EDITOR Loved hearing from Toy Story 4’s Josh Cooley how Keanu Reeves gets into character: “He literally stood on a table, going, ‘Huh! Hah! Yeah!’…

I recently lost my brother and reading Total Film (cover to cover) gives me a sense of escapism. I always find that film and television is a good source of diving into someone else’s life/story, leaving yours at the cinema door while you sit, watch and become enchanted. Thank you so much for being my rock. I love film, I love Total Film. SCOTT READING, LONDON Straight back at you, Scott – and sorry to hear of your…

total film wingman

DEAR WINGMAN I’m looking at your mag (TF284) and considering calling the local constabulary busies. It’s just that the photo spread on Hobbs & Shaw clearly features the chains stolen from my flats which were used to secure our communal bins. In fact, it looks like they’re again being used to fasten down two large, shiny-lidded units… DUSTY BINNS, VIA EMAIL WINGMAN SAYS… Probs best that you came to us before dialling 999. For one thing, you’ve reminded Wingy of one of his favourite games: spotting ‘his’ stuff on the cinema screen! He was craning like a meerkat during Fifty Shades – not because of any saucy shenanigans, but because the bathroom tiles were the spit of the ones in his nan’s pad. Anyone else seen ‘their’ tat – laundry basket, kitchen lino, crocheted…

* “Any time you can slam something, I find it enjoyable” * “I laughed out loud, internally” * “If I live to be 100, I’ll be enjoying Pancake Day on Feb 8th” * “Desperate for another dog-friendly screening” Now that we have a Pikachu movie, isn’t it time us children of the ’80s saw a few adaptations of our beloved TV characters? How about a Portland Bill film starring Nicolas Cage? Or a Rainbow movie with De Niro, Pesci and Keitel as Bungle, George and Zippy? Or Bruce Campbell heading up a low-budget version of The Poddington Peas? The possibilities are endless! OWEN, CAERPHILLY Helen, Owen. Owen, Helen. You need to join forces like SuperTed and Spotty and lobby Hollywood for an injection of charming, pure-hearted, massively twee Brit-TV into their schedules. Of course,…
